Tankersley Praise & Prayer Update View this email in your browser November 2016 Our Satura Facilitator, Juan David, led us in team devotions on the first day of evangelism.  He read Hebrews 11 and challenged us with the idea that stories of faith are being written every day.  Here are just a few of the stories that we have seen written this month.  We pray that you are encouraged and challenged to live a life of faith.  Blessings, Doug & Cindy By faith, Bruce accepted a Gideon Bible that night on his way to the bar.  Leaving the bar intoxicated and having to prop himself against the wall, he felt something poking his side.  Pulling the Bible from his pocket, he remembers the conviction that came over him.  Since that day, he has lived by the words in that Bible.  By faith, he arrived in Medellín to share that testimony and the Good News he received from that Bible, and now many know about Jesus and His love for them.    By faith, Corey left his tree service business, wife and 5 young children to come to Medellín to share about Jesus.  This humble, quiet, servant of God is a man of very few words until he hits the streets. More than 200 people heard the Gospel of Jesus because of Corey.  By faith, 15 year old Laura, served as a first time translator during her week of school vacation.  Her passion & love for the Lord compelled her to move outside her comfort zone to be the necessary bridge for short term missionaries.  By faith, Marcia (not pictured) leads a group of elderly ladies in Florida making hand-made gifts with Bible verses to be distributed throughout Colombia. They never see where their work ends up, but trust that their prayers will be answered and God's word will not return void. By faith, we will continue to reap the harvest in Colombia. WILL YOU JOIN US? 1.  Pray for the team that arrives this Saturday. 2.  Pray for the pastors & churches as they follow up with the decisions that were made for Christ. 3.  Pray for us as we will have people on the field in our care from 10/29 - 11/20.  4.  We are always seeking wisdom and discernment for decisions that need to be made.  5.  Kent Eller will stay with us a few days in November.  Please pray as we meet together with our Colombian partners to discuss teams for 2017 and Men for Missions Colombia. Getting Tired of Teams?

Tankersley Praise & Prayer Update View this email in your browser October 2016 "My food," said Jesus, "is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work."  John 4:34 Thank you for praying for each evangelism team. There are so many variables that we can plan and prepare for as we host teams.  However, there are many more that are simply out of our control, and each team requires a large amount of faith and trust in God to orchestrate our days.  "Do you ever get tired of hosting teams?" one team member asked.  The answer was a resounding, "NO!" NO, because we never get tired of seeing God work in amazing ways.  We never get tired of seeing people sacrificing their money, time and comfort to serve God. We never get tired of seeing the local church encouraged because brothers and sisters have come alongside them. We never get tired of seeing young translators utilize their abilities and servant hearts to bridge the language barrier. We never get tired of seeing lives transformed right before our eyes.  We never get tired of trusting in the Hope of Jesus Christ to touch hearts through a simple testimony.  We never get tired of telling people how much God loves them.  We never get tired bragging about the things that God has done. We never get tired of being a part of something so much bigger than our little minds can even begin to grasp. We are so thankful that God has allowed us the privilege of serving in Colombia.  Thank you for your prayers and financial support which sustains the ministries that we have been called to.  We pray that you never get tired of praying and giving!  Because of you, thousands have come to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and now have eternal Hope. Doug & Cindy Doug recently had an opportunity to travel with Warren Hardig, Kent Eller and Rich Yoder to Cuba for meetings with laymen who are interested in Men for Missions.   The team enjoyed fellowship with strong Christian laymen who are discussing leadership of MFMI.  They had the privilege of laying hands on them, and asking God to strengthen, encourage, and anoint them for His service. These men all serve in small congregations that love the Lord.  In two other cities, they also visited two churches, training centers, and the site of a new seminary (that is yet to be constructed).   This was a blessing for all of them, as the Cubans were thankful for the team to come alongside them, encourage them and pray for them. There are many challenges, but with that, God is doing amazing things in that country.   The Cubans have a heart to begin sending their own teams to serve within their country and also in other countries.  We see that God is doing the same here in Colombia, too.  Everyday, we encounter laymen with great passion to DO, GO and GIVE what God is calling them to do.  Please pray for wisdom and discernment in growing these programs in Cuba, Colombia and other parts of Latin America.  Last week during our evangelism team, we utilized 9 new translators.  During the week, God graciously brought an additional 5 more.  We are thankful for His abundant provisions and expecting great things based on His provisions.  Please pray that God will increase their ability to understand and fill the gap between languages.  Why a 40 passenger bus for a group of 12?  As we entered this "rich & famous" bus, we noticed that there was a Christian fish symbol on the dashboard with the name of Jesus in the middle.  Most buses are decorated with many other symbols but this is the first time that we have seen a Christian symbol.  As we were waiting at the airport for the team to arrive, Doug asked the driver about the symbol and asked if he was a Christian.  He said yes and that he was also a pastor.  We couldn't believe it.  The team that was to arrive, had 4 pastors on it which is another rare thing.  We occasionally have one pastor on the team but not 4!  We explained the purpose of our teams and why we are in Colombia. Each morning Juan Felipe and his son, would pick us up to deliver us to our evangelism location.  Each afternoon they would return to take us back to the hotel.  During these brief encounters, God poured out great encouragement for all.  One morning, Pastor Juan Felipe arrived early and provided a devotion for us during breakfast.  When they arrived to pick us up on our last day of evangelism, his wife had joined him.  We invited them to join the team for dinner.  Juan Felipe's son was so overwhelmed at God's goodness.  He said, "We have never had a group like this, NEVER!" It became very apparent why we needed a 40 passenger bus this week.  God's blessings of encouragement are so BIG!  1.  Pray for Colombia as they continue to seek peace and justice for a 50+ war with the FARC. 2. Praising God for the many new translators that have begun helping our MFM teams. 3. Please pray for the churches and communities where we'll be serving in door-to-door evangelism on October 10-13 with a team coming from Indiana, Ohio and Oregon: • Pastor Jaime in Aranjuez • Pastor Rafael in Bello • Pastor Alejandro in Zamora • Pastor Alex in Bello   4. Praising God for how He encourages us.  5.
