Tankersley Praise & Prayer Update View this email in your browser August 2019 Dear Prayer Warriors, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."  Acts 1:8 Pictured above is the Men For Missions evangelism team that Doug led this past June, into Camagüey, Cuba. In November 2018, our evangelism team was the first to do home visits and found them to be very effective. In Camagüey, the team arrived to receive more than 50 invitations into Cuban homes. They were blessed as 111 people made professions of faith, others made re-dedication decisions, and others simply heard the gospel without a positive response at that time. Larry Seawell, pictured first on the left, was on the first evangelism trip in November and returned again this June. One of his favorite stories was meeting Pastor Leo and his wife Judy. He said, "They are a wonderful ministry couple leading one of the church plants.  They were with us all week and opened the doors to many homes by securing invitations for us to come.  They saw their 8-year-old daughter plus Leo's father, step-mother and a step-sister all make first-time professions of faith during the week." While in Cuba, Doug had the opportunity to meet Carlos, a key leader from the Dominican Republic, who came to observe the model of MFM short-term evangelism teams. Doug has scheduled a vision trip to the DR in the next few weeks to meet with Carlos to discuss forming Men For Missions - Dominican Republic.   We're reminded that as Regional Directors for Latin America, we want to find where the Holy Spirit is on fire and simply help carry the wood to the fire.  As of July 31, Men for Missions has sent: 17 Evangelism Teams to 11 countries with 120 people 3 Medical Team to 2 countries with 42 people 2 Prayer Teams to 2 countries with 8 people 26 Work Teams to 11 countries with 180 people  Overall: 48 Teams to 18 countries with 350 people We're thankful for each and every one that has helped "carry wood" to the ends of the earth.  We thank God for your prayers, your giving and your going!   Blessings to you, Doug & Cindy Children Bibles for Cuba Is your church looking for ways to get children involved in missions? Our partners in Cuba are requesting Bibles for children. We'd love to see your children's group help raise funds to purchase Bibles for children in Cuba.  Please let us know if you'd like more information.   Colombians to Venezuela Please pray for the Men For Missions-Colombia group as they prepare to cross their borders for the first time to serve in Venezuela on a short-term evangelism team in November. Those that have committed to go, have previously served with Men For Missions teams from the USA and Canada. Jonathan Tobón will be their Team Leader, please pray for him.   Rejoice with us! Jude is pretty happy to have a new little brother: Hudson Eldon Tankersley August 18, 2019 1. Praising the Lord for the birth of our newest Grandson: Hudson Eldon Tankersley 2. Pray for Doug's mom - she fell on July 4th and broke both ankles.  Due to complications, she's still in the hospital 7 weeks later.   3. Remaining Evangelism Teams to Colombia for 2019: August 24 - 31 September 21- 28 October 19 - 26 November 23 - 30 4. Pray for Cindy as she brings the chapel message at Peoria Christian School on September 4. 5. Pray as preparations are being made for 4 evangelism/construction teams into Cuba in 2020. 6. Praising the Lord for a week of rest in the northwoods of Wisconsin.   7.  Pray for Doug's trip to the Dominican Republic.
