Tankersley Praise & Prayer Update View this email in your browser January 2021 Dear Prayer Warriors, Happy New Year - 2021 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things. Philippians 4:8 Several years ago, we joined our church in starting each year with 21 days of fasting and prayer. (No, we don't go 21 days without food - although some do) Our daily devotions during this fast are focusing on HOPE.  After the challenging year of 2020, it's been so good to intentionally take time each day to find the true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy things hiding in our daily circumstances. The uncertainties and challenges of a new year may not change, but how we look at them can definitely change.  Four years ago, we were attending a Colombian national church conference. We went to simply serve 700 pastors and leaders. It was there that the keynote speaker from Ethiopia called us up front with a word from the Lord. He told us to forget everything we knew about missions in the past because the way we were going to be doing missions would be totally different. It was a holy moment - one we will never forget, and although we knew that change would be coming, we had no idea when it would begin.    As we plan and prepare for 2021, we can't help but to recall these words from the Lord. We ask for wisdom, direction and an openness to see new ways to come alongside our U.S. and Latin American partners to reach the lost, disciple believers and plant churches in a year where people need the HOPE of Jesus Christ more than ever.  Thank you for your sustaining prayer support through 2020! We thank God that we have such an incredible support team in this ministry. Our prayer for you this year is that the God of HOPE will fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with HOPE by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13) Blessings, Doug & Cindy Pathway Launch Service It has been such a blessing to come alongside Pastor Tanner & Alexa and their new church plant in Quad-Cities area (Moline, IL).  We joined the church plant team in the Fall of 2019 as we begin praying and exploring where the Lord desired to plant this church.  It has been exciting to see how the Lord has abundantly blessed Tanner and Alexa and their local launch team.  Please join us in praying for their official launch service on January 31 in Pathway's very own church building.  Weather permitting, we will attend the service! Homeland Missionary Funding Program We are excited about a new incentive program to help homeland missionaries raise their support. This program will make a one time match for any new monthly gifts, increased gifts by current monthly donors or special one time gifts. Please pray that we will be able to raise additional support to cover our $700 monthly deficit.  God Always Provides! Last February, Cindy took a position at our local church to help eliminate the cost of medical insurance from depleting our support account. However, the new year brought a change to the benefit package, so she has returned to full-time ministry with Men for Missions. Looking back we can certainly see how God provided and sustained our support account during a global pandemic, through her additional employment at Northwoods Community Church.    1. Praise the Lord for His faithful love, protection and provisions for our family.  2. Pray for 2021 short-term USA and International mission teams as dates are forming.  3. Pray as MFM staff develop a more cohesive short-term mission training program. 4. Pray for our Latin American partners. Pray especially for God's miraculous provisions for the Cuban churches.  5. Pray for direction, wisdom and an openness to see new ways to come alongside our US and Latin American partners.  Vision:  Our goal is the Lordship of Jesus Christ in each person's life, at home and around the world.
