Happy New Year 2017 for The Tankersleys

It's so easy to start out 2017 with our hearts full of gratitude when we were surrounded by our kids in Quito, Ecuador.  We are very thankful for those that responded and provided funds to help bring us together. It wouldn't have happened without you. THANK YOU!

It was a beautiful time for us to reflect together, on the Lord's goodness and faithfulness that He provided to our family during our first term of service (2006-2010). We have so many precious memories of people, places, and experiences. It was also good to reminisce and share this part of our lives with Erin.

Please remember to pray for our family as we all struggle with the distance between us.

May God bless you and your family this year as you love and serve Him each day!

Blessings,
Doug & Cindy
"ON CHRIST THE SOLID ROCK I STAND"

We are praising the Lord for his mighty hand of protection over us as we experienced our first epicenter of a 5.8 earthquake on the coast of Ecuador.
We had finished up with clearing out household goods from the OMS guesthouse and had a few days before the kids were scheduled to arrive on Christmas Eve. We welcomed the opportunity to help some fellow missionaries do some repairs from the major earthquake in April.  While we were there, another major earthquake hit at 2:11 in the morning.
*This hotel was a block from the apartment where we were staying.

Please continue to pray for the rebuilding efforts in Ecuador.  The needs are great!
A special thank you to those that are always willing to send or carry things into the country for us.  We realize that our constant petitions are not always convenient, but when you can be the conduit for meeting the needs of others, we are so grateful!  Once again, thank you to Gibson City Bible Church for collecting reading glasses and thank you to Upper Room Bible Church for carrying them into the country.
We're so thankful for the leadership that we have through Bob & Esther Fetherlin in their positions as President and First Lady of One Mission Society.  It was a blessing of encouragement to connect with them and a few of the OMS board members as they visited the ministries in Colombia.
Please pray for these 4 pastors and their churches as we join together to share the Gospel of Jesus in their communities through door-to-door evangelism with a MFM Team from the USA.

December 2016

"If a picture is worth a 1000 words, then an experience is worth 1000 pictures."
This year, we have had the incredible privilege of hosting 6 Men For Missions Evangelism teams, working with 18 Colombian churches and witnessing over 2000 people responding to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This is truly a life changing journey that contains a continuous ripple through our lives and the lives of others for eternity.

Pictured above are the beginnings of a daughter church planted by a 4 year old church that we served alongside in September.  Within this group there's an 8 year old boy who was sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ door to door utilizing the evangecube. God is multiplying every single effort exponentially. It would take more than 1000 words to describe this picture.  Each person would need 1000 words to tell of their individual stories and God's abundant blessings.

It was so encouraging to have one of our supporting churches, Upper Room Bible Church, here to serve alongside us in ministry. We welcome all of our supporting churches to come. Your presence on the field brings more encouragement than you will ever know.

Looking back on photos from the 18 different communities where we joined the local church and completed evangelism this year, we are oozing with thankfulness for all that we see God doing and realize that there is so much more that we can't even begin to wrap our heads around.  As we look forward to 2017, we are overwhelmed to be a part of God's work in Colombia and know that we can't do it alone.  We need you, your prayers, your giving and your willingness to come and help reap the harvest. Thank you so much for your support to us and our ministry.

Merry Christmas,
Doug & Cindy

PS - Click photo above for a special Christmas greeting from OMS.  "This Christmas Say, Yes!"
Here's Juan David, Satura facilitator for Medellín, helping us obtain Bibles donated by MFM-Canada.  Each box is distributed during the day of evangelism.  Each home that we discover is without a Bible, is given this Bread of Life.
Please pray that the Holy Spirit will guide each new reader.
We are heading to Quito on December 8 to clean out our stuff in the OMS guesthouse and reconnect with many dear friends.
We are so thankful for God's provisions that will allow our kids to join us on December 24. A special heartfelt thank you to those that gave to make this possible.

David and Erin will be bringing a little extra cargo on board. They're expecting our first grand baby in May.  Please pray for the kids, especially Erin, as they travel and that they would stay safe and healthy during their visit.
Thank you for praying for our time with Kent Eller, National Director of MFM.  He stayed on for a few days in between teams. We had great meetings while he was here. We are looking forward to our continued relationship with Satura Colombia.  Please pray as we move forth in faith in 2017.

In 2016, MFM sent 92 Teams to 15 Countries
with 778 People

In a small effort to show our appreciation and gratitude to our amazing group of translators, we spent the day touring outside the city and enjoying each other.  We are so thankful to the Lord for growing the number of translators we have, in order  to prepare for the needs in 2017.  Pray that God will bless, lead and encourage each one of our translators.
Many are not pictured

1. Rejoicing in the abundant harvest of 2016 and thankful for each one that was a part of the reaping.

2.  Pray for our time in Quito.

3.  Pray now for God to supply the people to meet the needs for evangelism teams in 2017.

4.  We're always seeking wisdom and discernment as we move forward in ministry.

5.  Pray as we begin to make preparations to send Colombians on short term mission trips.
