Tankersley Praise & Prayer Update View this email in your browser May 2017 The Walls Came Tumbling Down in Jericó, Colombia! The small short-term evangelism team traveled 3 hours outside of Medellín to the small town of Jericó, Colombia, birthplace of the first Colombian Saint, Laura Montoya. The evangelism team was a bit apprehensive to do door to door evangelism in an area that had become renown for their religious tourism.  However, nestled in between two of the most stunning Catholic temples, is a small Christian church called, Center of Faith and Hope, which was the encouragement they needed.    Pastor Anibal and several leaders from Center of Faith and Hope church had completed level 1 of Saturation Colombia training and were ready to put it to practice.  "As a church plant from Medellín, we have been praying for 2 years that God would open doors in this community", said Pastor Anibal.    After many obstacles and arriving late, we set out in our teams of three: North American, translator and local church member.  To our amazement, the people of Jericó were very curious and hungry to know about Jesus.  A simple testimony of how God worked in our lives opened the door, but a hungry soul kept the door open to hear the Good News of Jesus.  More than 200 people heard the Gospel of Jesus and 158 responded to the Gospel with a profession of faith to trust Jesus as their only savior.  The touristic, religious walls of Jericó came tumbling before our very eyes.   As we celebrated our time together, rejoicing over the day, local church members shared how God had conquered their fear of rejection. The North Americans and translators confessed their disbelief that God could penetrate through the steep religious traditions and customs in this area.  We were all in awe of how God opened doors and touched hearts.  We were all affirmed in that God alone is responsible for the results.  We are to be obedient to the call of knocking on the door and sharing what he has done in our lives, but He alone is the one to touch the heart, save a soul and transform a life.   As we were making our way to the bus, another curious local asked me what we were doing and I explained that we had been in her town to share about Jesus but that we were leaving, she pleaded with me to teach her about Jesus before I left. The harvest is truly ripe. People are waiting to hear about the hope that we have in Jesus Christ.     Missional mindsets are evolving.  Laymen are no longer assuming that's it's only the pastor's responsibility to share about Jesus.  The local church is beginning to understand that they must take Jesus outside the church doors. Missionaries are learning that they don't need to bring all the answers and programs, but to come alongside our brothers and sister in Christ, to encourage and support the call that God has put on their lives.   Thank you so much for your support to all that God is doing in Colombia. Your support is helping to grow the Kingdom of God, and souls are being saved as a result of your obedience. We're very thankful for each one and how they are using their abilities to serve the Lord. Please remember to pray for these translators and their crucial link in sharing about Jesus. We are anxiously awaiting our first grandchild due May 20.  Please pray for Erin in these last few days of pregnancy.   Please pray for us as we make a quick trip to Illinois between evangelism teams, June 1 - June 18 to welcome this new little blessing to the Tankersley family. Satura Colombia has requested 12 evangelism teams for 2018.  Please pray how you can be a part of sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. 1.  Praising the Lord for another 2 year visa for Colombia.  2. Pray for the evangelism team arriving this Saturday, May 20 - 27. 3. Pray for Men For Mission Staff meetings on May 22 - 23 4. Pray as we continue to move forth in forming "Men For Missions - Colombia" 5. Tankersley Praise & Prayer Update View this email in your browser March 2017 Dear Prayer Warriors, Thank you so much for praying for our first MFM Evangelism team in Bogotá. God is so faithful and provided for everything we needed, even holding the rain back each day until evangelism was done.  We are thankful for the servant hearts of Carlos (second from the right) and Patricia (center). They were the Dynamic Duo in coordinating transportation, hotels, translators and tourism. Jonathan (second from the left) is the Satura coordinator from Medellín.  He did an outstanding job of setting an example for those in Bogotá.  The team shared the Gospel with over 300 people in 4 different communities.  Carlos is the Satura facilitator in Bogotá, and is training and multiplying more churches in evangelism, discipleship and church multiplication.  Pray for him as he leads and prepares to host additional MFM Evangelism teams in this city of 10 million people in 2018. Pray that God will supply the teams that Carlos needs. We are working hard to train many Satura facilitators to coordinate and receive evangelism teams in their own regions without us present. Pray for us as we work with Astedien in the Southwest region of Antioquia in the month of April.  Blessings, Doug & Cindy Meet Warren Hardig, the International Executive Director of Men For Missions. It was such an honor and privilege to serve alongside Warren this week. His humble example of preaching, teaching and sharing the hope that he has, brought great encouragement to every laymen that desires to serve God.  Proverbs 27:17 As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.  Pray that God will raise up Colombian laymen to GO, DO and GIVE however God is calling them to so.  Meet Vincent (center w/ yellow shirt), the bus driver for the team in Bogotá.  Due to the vastness of the city, Vincent had to stay with our team each day. On Thursday at lunch, he shared, "Since I picked you up at the airport, I saw something in you that was so peaceful, content and full of love." We shared about God's love for us and the hope that Jesus brings in knowing him and trusting him as our savior. Vincent made the best decision of his life this day. Pray for him as he grows in the Lord.  Happy 30th Anniversary "SURPRISE!  You're going to San Andres, Island!" To say that we were overwhelmed at the outpouring love of our translator team in Medellín is an understatement.  They all pitched in to provide an all expense paid trip to this beautiful, tropical island which is the home to three of our translators. The photo is real, the beauty is spectacular and God is abundant with His splendor.  Please pray for our translators and that God will continue to use them in mighty ways.  1. Please pray for our visa renewal.  It expires May 4 and the renewal process is more extensive than we had hoped.  2.  Please remember to pray for new believers as they are discipled. 3. Pray for much needed translators for our April team as well as travel mercies. 4.
