Tankersley Praise & Prayer Update View this email in your browser July 2017 Dear Prayer Warriors, Pictured above is the evangelism team that arrived in May. For all but one, this was a return trip to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. To date, we have welcomed 6 evangelism teams to Colombia this year. We have trained several Satura Facilitators to receive teams, as well as coordinated with 22 pastors and their leadership teams to continue the work of evangelism and discipleship. Together we have shared the Gospel with approximately 2000 people so far this year, and have 5 more teams scheduled this year. Please pray that God's word will not return void. Pray that He continues to care for the seeds that have been planted.  We recognize that the fruits of this ripe harvest, as well as the number of workers that are helping with the harvest, are a result of years of faithful prayer warriors. The Colombian church has been and continues to be passionate and committed to praying for the lost. We thank each one of you who stand in the gaps of this work with your prayers. God continues to bless us with abundant provisions and fruit.  Serving the Lord together, Doug & Cindy   Thank you for your prayers as little Jude Haldon came into this world. We made a quick trip to Illinois in between teams to shower this precious one with grandparent love.  Please continue to pray for our family. David started his new position as a correctional officer with Peoria County which is quite an adjustment for the new daddy and his family.  Within days of our return from the states, we welcomed a team from Paxton, IL. We are very thankful to our supporting churches that invest in sending people from their church to actively be a part of the ministries that they support with their finances and prayers.  It's our prayer that each one returns with a greater passion to serve the Lord at home.  Click here for the current issue of MFM Action Magazine Featured article on Colombia can be found on page 9.   One of our most Frequently Asked Questions is, "What do you do when teams are not here?" The first couple of days, we rest & reflect! Taking time to process all that God has done and have a debrief time with the Satura Coordinator. Then we catch up on being "gone" for a week with the team.  You know the fun things like laundry, housework, financial reports, emails, etc. We are always preparing for the next teams.  Some of this includes: visiting pastors & churches, calculating team and evangelism material costs, hosting translator events, money exchanges, preparing and sending team welcome emails with church profiles, ordering and paying for bibles for distribution, making hotel reservations and paying deposits for hotels, reserving and paying for team transportation, tourism, scheduling translators, etc. We try to stay connected with family, friends, headquarters and supporters with phone calls and updates. Before we know it, we're on a bus to the airport again to receive the next team.  1. Praising the Lord for Jude and the time we had to visit family. 2. Praising the Lord for His mighty hand of protection and provision for us and our team members.   3.  Praising the Lord for good Men For Mission staff and cabinet meetings. Tankersley Praise & Prayer Update View this email in your browser May 2017 The Walls Came Tumbling Down in Jericó, Colombia! The small short-term evangelism team traveled 3 hours outside of Medellín to the small town of Jericó, Colombia, birthplace of the first Colombian Saint, Laura Montoya. The evangelism team was a bit apprehensive to do door to door evangelism in an area that had become renown for their religious tourism.  However, nestled in between two of the most stunning Catholic temples, is a small Christian church called, Center of Faith and Hope, which was the encouragement they needed.    Pastor Anibal and several leaders from Center of Faith and Hope church had completed level 1 of Saturation Colombia training and were ready to put it to practice.  "As a church plant from Medellín, we have been praying for 2 years that God would open doors in this community", said Pastor Anibal.    After many obstacles and arriving late, we set out in our teams of three: North American, translator and local church member.  To our amazement, the people of Jericó were very curious and hungry to know about Jesus.  A simple testimony of how God worked in our lives opened the door, but a hungry soul kept the door open to hear the Good News of Jesus.  More than 200 people heard the Gospel of Jesus and 158 responded to the Gospel with a profession of faith to trust Jesus as their only savior.  The touristic, religious walls of Jericó came tumbling before our very eyes.   As we celebrated our time together, rejoicing over the day, local church members shared how God had conquered their fear of rejection. The North Americans and translators confessed their disbelief that God could penetrate through the steep religious traditions and customs in this area.  We were all in awe of how God opened doors and touched hearts.  We were all affirmed in that God alone is responsible for the results.  We are to be obedient to the call of knocking on the door and sharing what he has done in our lives, but He alone is the one to touch the heart, save a soul and transform a life.   As we were making our way to the bus, another curious local asked me what we were doing and I explained that we had been in her town to share about Jesus but that we were leaving, she pleaded with me to teach her about Jesus before I left. The harvest is truly ripe. People are waiting to hear about the hope that we have in Jesus Christ.     Missional mindsets are evolving.  Laymen are no longer assuming that's it's only the pastor's responsibility to share about Jesus.  The local church is beginning to understand that they must take Jesus outside the church doors. Missionaries are learning that they don't need to bring all the answers and programs, but to come alongside our brothers and sister in Christ, to encourage and support the call that God has put on their lives.   Thank you so much for your support to all that God is doing in Colombia. Your support is helping to grow the Kingdom of God, and souls are being saved as a result of your obedience.
