Tankersley Praise & Prayer Update View this email in your browser September 2017 Dear Prayer Warriors, Montería, Colombia welcomed us with one of the largest evangelism teams to date. Thank you for your prayers as we brought an evangelism team and trained three more Satura Facilitators in this new region.  Many in this group were not with us at each door, but were in the throne room interceding for us. In all honesty, intercessory prayer is usually the only tool that we can use when there is nothing we can physically DO.  However, intercessory prayer is what God was calling this group to do. We are so thankful to the call that God puts on each heart.   The week was quite difficult with the excessive heat (104 in the shade) and logistics in a new area. The enemy tried to deter our efforts as our team witnessed a dog bite, accidental fall resulting in a hospital visit for x-rays and stitches, and a serious family issue in the states, just to name a few.  However, God was victorious and more than 532 people heard and responded positively to the Gospel.  One of these 532 was a translator named Andres. He was scheduled for two days of translation. In a simple introduction, he told us how he just knew without a doubt, that he was to be with this team. He felt as though God was leading him back into a relationship with Him. He quickly rearranged his schedule to serve with us the remainder of the week. At the end of the week, he gave testimony to how he responded to God's leading and that we can actually add one more soul to the total.  His full story will be published in the January 2018 edition of Action magazine. Thank you for standing in the gaps for us and praying as the Holy Spirit leads. Blessings, Doug & Cindy Maddox - Making of a Missionary Meet Maddox, a 13 year old, with a heart for the lost and a passion to share about Jesus.  To date, he is the youngest of all our team members that have left the comforts of home to cross borders to share his faith in Jesus Christ. His excitement and boldness to tell others about Jesus is exemplary. He arrived on the field eager and ready to be part of the team. It's exciting to see God prepare our young men and women and their obedience to serve him. Please pray for Maddox and our young people! Men for Missions has recently named a national director in Cuba. We have the privilege of joining Warren Hardig, the Executive International Director and Kent Eller, Vice Executive International Director, to visit him and his family as they begin to roll out a Men For Missions program. We are scheduled to leave next Tuesday but are now keeping a very close watch on Hurricane Irma.  Pray that Irma will stay out at sea and we will be able to spend a few days together. We have been overseas since August 2014 and it's that time again for a Home Ministry Assignment (HMA). Our HMA will be 4-5 months. We plan to kick off HMA in November (17 - 19) with a missions conference in Iowa.    Our responsibilities during HMA will include: Spending time with family and friends. Connecting with supporting churches/supporters and give an overview of what God is doing in Colombia. Raise additional financial/prayer support for the next term of service. Promote current projects and evangelism teams in Colombia. Prepare for next term of service. We will continue working very closely with the newly appointed Men For Mission Colombia director to be announced in October. We will reside in Peoria, Illinois to be close to family.   1.  Please pray for our planned time in Cuba with Kent Eller, Warren Hardig and Allen, the MFM Director in Cuba September 5-8.  2.  Please pray as we begin to make preparations for our Home Ministry Assignment. 3.  Please pray for our kids - David and Erin as they adjust to his new position with the Bloomington Police Department. Tankersley Praise & Prayer Update View this email in your browser August 2017 "God knows.... He always knew..... There wasn't a time that He didn't know....."   As the evangelism team enters the church, we are greeted by translators, local church members, Satura facilitators and the team just increased 3 times over. As team coordinators, this is the moment that we have planned and prepared for. We begin to process which translator will work the best with which person. We begin to search how many locals we have and if we have enough. We begin to count men and women as we don't want to have all men teams or all women teams. Before we know it, we have started the opening program with a time of devotion and our busy minds can rest for a few minutes.  This devotion time has become such a precious time to bind us together in the Spirit of God, as well as calm each one of us.  It's not just the team coordinators that are internally frantic, but each team member has put themselves in such a vulnerable position that it requires total dependence upon God.  Each translator is thinking about their ability to remember and speak English.  Each local church member is filled with the unknown of serving alongside someone from another country.  All of us begin to doubt the decision we made to obey and serve the Lord in this manner.  We are flooded with emotions, and just as we feel as though we are sinking from overwhelment, the word of God is opened in a group time of devotion. During our last team, a team member feeling completely inadequate, shared what the Lord had spoke to him and it has brought great assurance to us.  "God knows... what translator you will have, what local you will have, he knows what doors you will knock on, he knows who will open that door, he knows how that person is going to respond, God knows...... He always knew..... There wasn't a time that He didn't know......" There are so many things that keep our hearts & minds preoccupied. We pray that you will finish these statements with what preoccupies you, and be assured in what God is calling you to do.  As always, we are so grateful for your prayer support which is producing fruit in Colombia and our own hearts.  "Cast your burden on the Lord and he will sustain you." Psalm 55:2 Blessings, Doug & Cindy This was our first time to take an evangelism team into Cartagena, Colombia. The coastal city of Cartagena is known for tourism, but as you can see by the pictures we were far from the tourist area. We served alongside 4 churches that had previously covered these streets and homes with much prayer - through prayer walking. The harvest is unbelievably ripe and over 500 people heard about Jesus and his love for them. Many made decisions to trust Jesus as their Savior and will have opportunities to be discipled by the churches that we served alongside. The Satura facilitators in Cartagena are now ready to receive teams in 2018.  Please pray for Benjamin, (Berenise and Adriana - not picured), Satura facilitators in Cartagena as they continue to train and multiply churches. Pray for Jonathan Tobón, Satura/Men For Missions coordinator as he plans and prepares for upcoming teams. He also begins classes in the university this week. Pray as he tries to balance all his responsibilities. Please pray for Yomaira, Javier, Julio, and Satura facilitators in Montería as they prepare for their first team in August. We are so thankful for our strategic alliance with Satura Colombia.   1. Praising the Lord for open doors and open hearts in Cartagena, and for the three Satura facilitators in this area that are prepared to receive future teams.  2. Please pray for our first time serving with an evangelism team in Montería, August 12-19. We will also be training three Satura facilitators to receive future teams. 3.
