Tankersley Praise & Prayer Update View this email in your browser January 2018 Happy New Year from Peoria, Illinois! The proof is in the picture! Yes, we have made the drastic change from Medellín Colombia, the city of eternal Spring, to Peoria, Illinois in the winter. What were we thinking!! Even though the weather has been bitter cold and snowy, we've had many activities to warm our hearts and welcome us home. We landed stateside in November to share in a three-day missions conference in Iowa at Faith Evangelical Church.  We had a wonderful time sharing about God's work in Colombia and connecting with those that have invested time, prayer and money into the evangelism teams.  Faith Evangelical will send their third evangelism team in March this year. During this trip, we were also blessed to meet supporters that we have never met before. They drove 5 hours from Nebraska to Iowa for a brief visit that blessed us greatly.  We were "home" for one day from Iowa and drove Doug's mom to Florida to help her get settled into her winter home. It was wonderful weather ( a brief thawing out for us) and we were able to share precious time with family.  We returned from Florida on December 4 and were welcomed back with a surprise party for Doug's birthday.  The rest of December was filled with many family activities and just trying to get settled. It's a unique feeling to finally have all of our belongings in one country, in one state and under one roof. We're unpacking things that have been packed since 2005. Living life in the "present" with our family has brought such inexpressible joy to our hearts. It's something that we all have needed for a long time and God is so gracious to fill those deep desires and longings of our hearts.  Our debrief and re-entry meetings were last week at One Mission Society in Greenwood, IN. We've shorten our Home Ministry Assignment and officially begin our assignment with Men For Missions as Regional Directors - Latin America, on February 1 (You can read more about our new assignment below). It's been quite a change of mindset that we don't have to cram everything into a two-week time frame or that our good-byes are not for one year at a time or that it's okay to put down roots again.  Please continue to pray for our time of transition.  Blessings to you, Doug & Cindy   Men for Missions challenges men to DO, GO and GIVE in total obedience to Jesus Christ.  During 2017, we welcomed many MFM staff from USA and Canada to Colombia as they led 10 evangelism teams with 68 short-term team members resulting in nearly 3000 faith decisions for Jesus while serving alongside 40 national churches. We are so thankful for Satura, our national partner, as they continue with the hard work of follow up with each decision, disciple new believers and plant churches. There are 13 MFM evangelism teams scheduled for 2018 and more information can be found in the brochure on the right. We are very excited about our new roles with Men for Missions as Regional Directors - Latin America.  It's a new role for MFM and we're thankful for the opportunity to develop Men for Missions throughout Latin America. We will continue to help coordinate evangelism teams to Colombia and serve alongside Satura with the evangelism model as they develop in other Latin American countries as well as help to equip Colombians to cross their own borders as short-term missionaries.  This year, plans are already being made for the first MFM-Colombia short-term team, as Colombians cross their border as their own MFM short-term evangelism team. Please pray for God's leading and guiding as we venture into this new territory.  We will be making a concentrated effort to raise additional prayer and financial support for this next term of service. We have been greatly blessed with many faithful prayer warriors and financial donors but we have additional needs with this new position that need to be funded.  Please pray that God would go before us in touching people's hearts to commit to praying and giving to our ministry.   Please pray for us as we continue to search for a local church.  We haven't had the need to do something like this for more than 20 years and it has become quite overwhelming. Tankersley Praise & Prayer Update View this email in your browser October 2017 Ecclesiastes 3:1 "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:" Every missionaries' dream should be to work themselves out of ministry to the point that nationals can continue the work.  This is has become a reality for us.  Men for Missions is excited to announce, Jonathan Tobón, as the Facilitator for Men for Missions Colombia. Our strategic alliance with Satura Colombia will continue as MFM Colombia hosts 13 evangelism teams next year and prepares to cross their own borders as Satura expands throughout Latin America.  Kent Eller, Vice International Executive Director of Men For Missions spent several days with us planning and preparing for our transition into our new role as Latin America Regional Directors. We will continue to serve alongside Satura/MFM Colombia from the USA, helping to coordinate the teams for 2018 while also working to raise additional funds for our new role. We will also begin focusing on taking Colombia's MFM Evangelism model into other Latin American countries where Satura is expanding and training the local church for discipleship and church multiplication.  As we look ahead, we anticipate extended trips to Colombia and other Latin American countries.  Blessings to you, Doug & Cindy   We led our last English Fiesta with the Medellín translators.  We have developed such a special relationship with them as some have served with MFM teams since 2012. What a joy it was to have Kent serve the translators alongside us.   Our trip to Cuba was postponed due to Hurricane Irma. Thank you for praying as we struggled with the decision to go or not to go.  Our September team was cancelled due to lack of participants.  Please pray that God will touch hearts to come and serve on evangelism teams in 2018.  There are 13 teams planned and the local churches are prepared and excited to receive teams. These cancellations opened up a block of time for us to focus on Home Ministry Assignment preparations. The Lord has provided a house and car. Please note our new address below. Our phone number will stay the same as it's been for 7 years.  This is Juan Carlos and Angie. They have been waiting for a team since February.  We had to change the location of the February team due to team size. Then they were anticipating the September team which was cancelled, and they are now eagerly awaiting the October team. It's our prayer that God will greatly bless them for their patience.  Juan Carlos is a pastor and a Satura facilitator in North Antioquia. We will be serving in his region next week with the evangelism team.  Please pray specifically that we will have opportunities to share with many men in this region. The men in this area believe that church is only for women. The team coming has 10 members and 7 of them are men.  God's plan and timing are always perfect.  1. Praising the Lord for our MFM meetings with Satura Colombia. Many meetings and much fruit. 2. Pray for the evangelism team that arrives on Saturday, October 21. We will be evangelizing on Monday - Thursday. 3. Praising the Lord for many provisions as we prepare for our Home Ministry Assignment. We depart on November 7. 4. Pray for our time with Faith Evangelical Church in Radcliffe, Iowa. We will be sharing during their mission conference on November 17 - 19.
