"Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God[; believe also in me. My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going."
John 14:1-4

Happy Easter,

Cindy recently received this beautiful handkerchief from a lady at Northridge Freewill Baptist Church in Ohio. As we walked into this church for the first time, an overwhelming feeling of home engulfed us, which is quite unusual for missionaries because we often struggle with the concept of where home is actually located.  It's in this struggle that we become desensitized to that longing. It's in the ministry that we don't allow ourselves to be refreshed and renewed because there's too many things that demand our attention. It's here that we become dry, weary and somewhat robotic.

As we sat in the pew and worshiped with this new church family, many memories began to flood our hearts as we recalled the first church that we attended as a newly married couple and where Doug discovered Jesus, was saved and baptized. The Spirit of God had filled Cindy's heart so much that the tears were impossible to hold back even though we would be sharing in the moments ahead.  The lady sitting next to her in the pew had a beautiful handkerchief and Cindy began to think how badly she needed this small piece of cloth. Not as simply a tool to be used to "clean herself up" and help get her act together, but as a tangible reminder that God is so gracious to refresh and renew us. As Cindy looked around, she saw many handkerchiefs in the hands of those waiting and expecting for the Spirit of God to move. As the service drew to a close, one of the ladies came and handed Cindy this beautiful gift as a tangible reminder that God knows us better than we know ourselves and He delights in giving precious gifts.

Easter is another tangible reminder of God's precious gift of how much God loves us and sent his only son to die for us. His resurrection is the reason for our hope: A longing that we will one day be reunited in our forever home with our creator.

Thank you for standing in the gaps for us with your prayers.  We are so thankful that we are on this journey together.

He is RISEN,
Doug & Cindy

We welcome you to join us for the national conference of One Mission Society.  This is a great place to hear what God is doing around the world.
It has felt good to be behind the wheel again, but after nearly 6900 miles since November this has sufficiently filled that void.  Thank you for your prayers as we have traveled multiple times to Iowa, Indiana and Ohio.  We have been refreshed and renewed along the way as we have reunited with many that we served with in Colombia. It's always a joy to share about what God is doing and the ripe harvest in Colombia.
Even though we are not physically present when the team arrives, we continue to be an active part of each evangelism team that is sent out. Jonathan Tobón, who is our Facilitator for Men for Missions Colombia is doing an outstanding job receiving the teams.  The ripe harvest is abundant and many are hearing about Jesus and making decisions to trust him as their savior.  As the team leaves, the hard work begins as the local church completes follow-up and discipleship.
  • Please pray for Jonathan, Satura and the local church members.
  • Our third team to Colombia is scheduled to arrive on April 14.
  • We give praise that as a result of our first two teams, over 500 people made personal decisions to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
  • We are seeking a few more team members for the June team. Please let us know if you are interested.
Thank you for praying for our support needs. When God calls you to do His work, He will provide.  We are very grateful for every heart He touches to be a part of this ministry. We are currently 94% funded.  He is so faithful!
1.  Praising the Lord for his hand of protection and provision as we have been on the road... a lot!

2.  Praising the Lord for supporting churches and praying that God will continue to bless them.

3.  Pray for Cindy as she shares at a women's retreat in Iowa on April 6 & 7.

4.  Praising the Lord that we are 94% funded and His faithful provisions for us.

January 2018

Happy New Year from Peoria, Illinois!

The proof is in the picture! Yes, we have made the drastic change from Medellín Colombia, the city of eternal Spring, to Peoria, Illinois in the winter. What were we thinking!! Even though the weather has been bitter cold and snowy, we've had many activities to warm our hearts and welcome us home.

We landed stateside in November to share in a three-day missions conference in Iowa at Faith Evangelical Church.  We had a wonderful time sharing about God's work in Colombia and connecting with those that have invested time, prayer and money into the evangelism teams.  Faith Evangelical will send their third evangelism team in March this year. During this trip, we were also blessed to meet supporters that we have never met before. They drove 5 hours from Nebraska to Iowa for a brief visit that blessed us greatly.

We were "home" for one day from Iowa and drove Doug's mom to Florida to help her get settled into her winter home. It was wonderful weather ( a brief thawing out for us) and we were able to share precious time with family.

We returned from Florida on December 4 and were welcomed back with a surprise party for Doug's birthday.  The rest of December was filled with many family activities and just trying to get settled. It's a unique feeling to finally have all of our belongings in one country, in one state and under one roof. We're unpacking things that have been packed since 2005.

Living life in the "present" with our family has brought such inexpressible joy to our hearts. It's something that we all have needed for a long time and God is so gracious to fill those deep desires and longings of our hearts.

Our debrief and re-entry meetings were last week at One Mission Society in Greenwood, IN. We've shorten our Home Ministry Assignment and officially begin our assignment with Men For Missions as Regional Directors - Latin America, on February 1 (You can read more about our new assignment below).

It's been quite a change of mindset that we don't have to cram everything into a two-week time frame or that our good-byes are not for one year at a time or that it's okay to put down roots again.  Please continue to pray for our time of transition.

Blessings to you,
Doug & Cindy

Men for Missions challenges men to DO, GO and GIVE in total obedience to Jesus Christ.

During 2017, we welcomed many MFM staff from USA and Canada to Colombia as they led 10 evangelism teams with 68 short-term team members resulting in nearly 3000 faith decisions for Jesus while serving alongside 40 national churches.

We are so thankful for Satura, our national partner, as they continue with the hard work of follow up with each decision, disciple new believers and plant churches.

There are 13 MFM evangelism teams scheduled for 2018 and more information can be found in the brochure on the right.
We are very excited about our new roles with Men for Missions as Regional Directors - Latin America.  It's a new role for MFM and we're thankful for the opportunity to develop Men for Missions throughout Latin America. We will continue to help coordinate evangelism teams to Colombia and serve alongside Satura with the evangelism model as they develop in other Latin American countries as well as help to equip Colombians to cross their own borders as short-term missionaries.  This year, plans are already being made for the first MFM-Colombia short-term team, as Colombians cross their border as their own MFM short-term evangelism team.
Please pray for God's leading and guiding as we venture into this new territory.
We will be making a concentrated effort to raise additional prayer and financial support for this next term of service. We have been greatly blessed with many faithful prayer warriors and financial donors but we have additional needs with this new position that need to be funded.
Please pray that God would go before us in touching people's hearts to commit to praying and giving to our ministry.
Please pray for us as we continue to search for a local church.  We haven't had the need to do something like this for more than 20 years and it has become quite overwhelming.
