October 2020

Dear Prayer Warriors,

Happy Fall!

For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities - his eternal power and divine nature - have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.  Romans 1:20

As we think of the Fall season, we give thanks to the Lord for the ways in which he created the trees to provide us with beautiful Autumn colors to enjoy. It is such a blessing to see His beauty despite enduring a season of COVID, chaos and political uncertainty as the presidential election is rapidly approaching. Despite the outcome, and for those that have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, we can rest in the Lord knowing that this is not our permanent home.

This has certainly been an unusual year for everyone, even globally. What was planned to be one of Doug's busiest years of travel, has led to the cancellation of 10 to 12 originally planned trips. However, as overseas travel has been halted for a time, this has allowed us to serve and participate in ministry here within the USA that we hadn't had the opportunity to do in the past. Our planned MFM Short-Term overseas teams were transformed into MFM short-term team members connecting as a team virtually with our ministry partners in Colombia, Hungry and Japan. It was great to host these virtual calls throughout the month, but just isn't the same as being there in person.

The Autumn colors that we are experiencing here in the midwest are just a small reminder of the incredible beauty that the Lord is preparing for us as believers in heaven. Despite the uncertainties that we face here on earth, we can be certain that the Lord is still faithful. There are still so many things to be thankful for, and we are are so very thankful for you and for your unceasing prayer and financial support for us.

Blessings,
Doug & Cindy
Men For Missions

Doug recently returned from a MFM work team that helped do a variety of repairs at the Shepherds Gate Inn in Indiana.  Due to Covid-19, MFM has been focusing on revising their overseas teams to US national teams and has had teams in Indiana, Michigan and have additional ones scheduled to South Carolina and Louisiana to help with relief from the recent hurricanes.  Please let us know if you are interested in joining a team.

Praying Saints

It's a very special privilege to share in the joys and sorrows of our supporters. We traveled quite a bit this month for a wedding and several funerals. Our prayer support was hit hard as these prayer warriors relocated to heaven. This ministry has been so blessed with faithful prayer partners.
Pathway Church - Quad Cities

You may recall that we were part of a church plant initiative one year ago.  We are still involved with this church plant which is located in the Quad Cities. This church plant now has around 40 members on their launch team and now have a physical church building that is owned by the church. Cindy and I will be leading another Prayer walk team there this weekend. Please pray that we might have opportunities to pray and share the Gospel with those that we may encounter.
Cuba

MFM-Cuba continues to very active in providing relief from the pandemic by providing food and encourage meant to those in need. Please pray for their team as they prepare to travel and return to the Cuban highlands on October 26-29 to minister in one of the poorest areas.

Northwoods Community Church

Cindy has been serving and teaching in our local church and recently led seven children to the Lord.  We have also had the opportunity to attend the "Doing What Jesus Did" classes, which is a 18 week commitment. Doug has been attending a men's bible study and will be sharing about Men for Missions at the end of October. Most of these opportunities were not previously possible due to our travel commitments prior to Covid.
  1. Praising God that He is in control and nothing takes Him by surprise.

  2. Pray as we lead a Prayer Walk team this weekend.

  3. Please pray for a Spirit-lead time of fellowship and meetings on November 11-15 as we discuss and prepare for 2021, and Standards of Excellence will lead us in Team Leader Training (Train the Trainer).

  4. Please pray for our MFM ministry team headed to Michigan next week and team leaving this Saturday for Lake Charles, Louisiana.

  5. Please pray for MFM as we make plans to resume international MFM teams in 2021.
Vision:  Our goal is the Lordship of Jesus Christ in each person's life, at home and around the world.

Mission:  Men for Missions challenges men to Do, Go and Give in total obedience to Jesus Christ.

Happy Easter

April 2020

Happy Easter Prayer Warriors,

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16

How are you doing? Are you okay? We'd love to hear from you!

WOW! A lot has changed in our world since our ministry update last month. Doug was preparing to lead a team to Cuba and less than 24 hours prior to departure, it was cancelled due to COVID-19. Since that time, there have been so many changes, transitions and huge learning curves for everyone.

We know that our Heavenly Father is revealing more of Himself to each of us during these days. We're so thankful that God doesn't change. He's the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. When difficult situations have overwhelmed us in the past, one of the things that we have done to help us persevere and remain faithful is to concentrate on who God is. God is love, full of mercy and grace. He is a provider, a protector, a healer, a shelter, a refuge, a comforter, a good father, a promise keeper, and he delights in showing us His miraculous power.

As we prepare to celebrate Easter and the Hope that we have in Jesus, we declare that God has power over sin, he has power over death and he has power to resurrect. He is VICTORIOUS! As believers, we celebrate Easter every single day. He is RISEN!

We realize that traditions, events, locations, activities and the people we share our lives with have changed this Easter, but it's our hope that the message of God's love for the world will go forth through every online service and there will be a great global revival as He touches the hearts of people around the world.

We love you, thank God for you and are praying for you. If you have a specific prayer request or a need of any kind, please let us know as we want to stand with you during these ever changing days.

Much Love,
Doug & Cindy

March 2020

Dear Prayer Warriors,

Since November 2019, we have been asking God to direct us to the nations and relationships that could help us share about MFM.  It's been exciting to see all the connections and opportunities that we have been given as we move forward to expand Men For Missions globally.  Thank you for your prayers during this time of seeking God's vision for MFM.

The map above indicates each country that has a potential future in forming or receiving a Men for Missions type ministry.  Please continue to pray for all the staff that are building relationships in each of these countries.

Doug continues to build relationships throughout Latin America. You can read updates on specific countries below.  Unfortunately, he has been forced to cancel his planned April trips to Peru and Canada due to lack of space for stamps in his passport.  He must take a page in order to expedite a new passport.  Please pray that this passport situation will be resolved quickly and will not be the cause of further cancellations.  Please pray that this will not effect his religious visas to Cuba that will be tied to his current passport.

Thank you for your faithfulness to stand in the gaps for us with your prayer support.  We are so grateful for each one of you.

Blessings,
Doug & Cindy
Nicaragua

Thank you for praying for Doug's recent MFM vision trip to Nicaragua. While in Nicaragua we had the opportunity to meet with local missionaries Joel and his family, where he showed us his ministries which included their bible institute, community outreach, and one of the houses that they were building.  We also met with a separate El Salvadorian family that is serving as missionaries in Nicaragua, who is very excited about potential evangelism possibilities.
El Salvador

In El Salvador, Doug had the opportunity to obtain a real and clear understanding of El Salvadorians that are deported from the USA back to El Salvador.  For many, the USA is the only home they have ever know since age 4, and they are put out into the streets to try to survive on their own.  Doug and the local team had the opportunity to feed some of the homeless at night, as well as visit some of the local ministries that have been formed to provide the (mostly English speaking) deportees with options to get off the streets.  This includes providing some with a church, housing, meals, showers, jobs, auto repair training, and activities such as flag football and full-contact football since that is what they are familiar with from life in the USA, not soccer.
Cuba

This Saturday Doug leaves for Cuba with a team from Paxton, Illinois.  The team will be a combination evangelism and work team and will include sharing the Gospel and personal testimonies in various homes as well as performing various electrical repairs and painting.  We will also have the opportunity to do some evangelism in the street and local park as well as lead some evangelism training for some of the neighboring churches.  Please pray for hearts to be softened and open to receive and accept the Good News of our Savior - Jesus Christ, for traveling mercies, for our health while there, and for the Spirit's leading as we lead evangelism training.
Northwoods Community Church

God has provided a wonderful ministry opportunity for Cindy to utilize her love for children, gifts and talents as well as provide financially to our support account.  As of July 2019, our monthly insurance premiums increased to over $1,100 and was rapidly depleting our support account.  Due to this decrease, we felt it was necessary to limit some of Cindy's overseas travel expenses.  It was also during this time that she started to volunteer on Sunday mornings in the children's program at church as a small group leader and story teller.  Several weeks ago, Northwoods reached out to Cindy and offered her a full-time position as Upper Elementary Associate for the children's program.  As a result of prayer and fasting, we recognize that this is an answer to several prayers, so she accepted their offer and began serving on February 25th.  This position is a perfect match for her in so many ways.  It also comes with an insurance benefit to eliminate the $1,100 monthly premium.  God is always up to something good!  Please pray for her as she continues on this new journey while continuing to serve with Men For MIssions.
1.  Praising God that the March Cuba team received their religious visas.

2.  Pray as Doug leads a team into Cuba March 14 - 21.

3.  Pray as Doug attends MFM staff meetings on March 25 - 29.

Please pray for a Spirit-lead time of fellowship and meetings as we discuss and prepare for what is ahead this year in 2020, and Standards of Excellence will lead us in Team Leader Training (Train the Trainer).

4.  Pray for Doug and Bill as they represent MFM at the Iron Sharpens Iron conference on April 4.

5.  Pray for the evangelism team to Cartegena, Colombia on April 18 - 25

6.  Pray for Doug's passport situation.

7.  Praising God - As of February 29, MFM has already sent 16 Teams to 10 countries with 82 people.
