Tankersley Praise & Prayer Update View this email in your browser September 2022 Dear Prayer Warriors, Last Fall, our small group began an eight-month intensive study on the seven churches in Revelation, reviewing its relevancy then and how the church body should be relevant today.  A reoccurring concept since that time, has been the warning that Jesus gave to the church of Ephesus. Revelation 2:4 says, "But I have this against you, You have abandoned your first love." Kay Arthur said, "It can be so easy to get into a routine of Christianity - serving the Lord out of duty until you lose the fervency and sacrificial dedication of love. Christianity can become a performance without passion...and people can tell. And if people can tell, don't you know that Christ, the Lover of your soul, can tell?" We're so thankful for God's word and how the Lord teaches and gently reminds us of those areas in our hearts that need immediate attention. May love's fervor, love's sacrifice and love's obedience always be abounding in our lives and the church.  Thank you so much for your faithfulness to us and this ministry! You bless us GREATLY! Blessings, Doug & Cindy Cindy's Mom (in the middle) We realize that you don't always have specifics when you pray for us, but your prayers for our family have been heard. In July, Cindy's mom relocated to a memory care unit to get the full time care that she needs due to Dementia. God was incredibly gracious with His peace and provisions during the transition.    Peńa de Horeb ~ Spain Daniel & Gail Castro, OMS missionaries, are pictured in the center and run the 40 year old OMS camp in Spain. When staff didn't return after COVID, they sent out an urgent plea for volunteers to help serve during their intense summer schedule of campers. Pictured is our international team representing, Scotland, Australia, Colombia, Britain and USA. Cindy is planning to return next summer. Please pray and plan now to join her.  (Click picture to see a Youtube video for the camp) Doug Postpones Trips We rejoice in answered prayer that travel has opened up, and Doug's travel schedule this year proves it. However, he has had two trips that needed to be postponed. Most recently, Hurricane Fiona cancelled his trip to Puerto Rico this month, but has led to potential opportunities for MFM support and relief teams. Doug and a newly forming team is now planning to depart 11/29-12/3.  Please pray that MFM can raise additional relief and rebuilding trips in the near future.  Upper Room Bible Church Mission Conference We're so thankful for the Upper Room Bible Church and the opportunities we had to visit dear friends and make new ones. It was very exciting to see three people willing to take a huge step of faith to begin exploring the missionary process that we remember so vividly 18 years ago. What a refreshing walk down memory lane.   Please pray for Ben, Megan & Austin.   Family Vacation When you pray, God will make a way. We're grateful for the blessing to have had the whole family together for a few days in Wisconsin. Please pray for David & Erin as they prepare to welcome their third baby in February 2023. Please pray for Jonathan as he begins the application process with OMS.  (click picture to read Jonathan's testimony in the current issue of OMS Outreach magazine, pgs 16-17) 1. Praise the Lord that travel is picking up!! MFM had 25 Teams to 10 countries w/175 people to date this year and more are ready to depart! Pray for Colombian evangelism team Oct. 1-8 2. Pray for Doug and the MFM team traveling to Albania October 11-18. 3. Pray for Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic as they recover from Hurricane Fiona.  4. Pray for MFM Cuba as they prepare and plan for helping their ministry friends in Pinar del Rio, Cuba.  This already frail community has been completely devastated by Hurricane Ian. 5. Please pray for the Florida residents in the crosshairs of Hurricane Ian.  This includes many of our family members including Doug's sister and her family that live near Tampa and Sarasota     Vision:  Our goal is the Lordship of Jesus Christ in each person's life, at home and around the world. Tankersley Praise & Prayer Update View this email in your browser July 2022 Dear Prayer Warriors, For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the Sovereign LORD will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations. Isaiah 61:11 Thank you for all you do to support us and the growing ministries of One Mission Society & Men For Missions.  We're so excited to see new life spring forth in our ministries as countries open up from a 2 year shutdown and we continue to make our way out of this Covid collaspe. The needs are plentiful and we have several short-term mission opportunities. Please pray that God will send forth laborers and if that's you, we'd love for you to join us.  We are grateful for your faithful giving and sustaining prayers.  Blessings, Doug & Cindy Dominican Republic - Round #2 One of the highlights of our last trip to the DR was to enjoy a lunch with Haitian pastors and their wives. Our missionary host is Jaime, who is a Nicaraguan serving Haitian immigrants in the DR. We spent several days meeting with pastors and looking for ways that we can come alongside them in what God is calling them to do. MFM Staff Work Team - Lake Charles, LA These are our peeps! We're missing a few but what a joy it is to serve together during our annual staff meetings.  We partnered with Fuller Disaster Rebuilders and worked on three homes that needed repair from back to back hurricanes Delta and Rita. There's still a lot of work to be done. If you'd like to serve on a stateside team, there are many options for you.  Gibson City Bible Church VBS Cindy jumped at the offer to assist with Vacation Bible School to work directly with a group of Latino children and helpers. There were five Spanish speaking countries represented within this group. We're thankful how God can bring the nations to us in surprisingly unique ways. Cindy was abundantly blessed by the endless hospitality of her dear friends during the week-long stay in Gibson City.  Please pray for Jeremy, a 4th grader, who gave his heart to Jesus. What he did that day will change the world around him.  MFM-USA Cabinet Meetings (AKA - Family Reunion) We had wonderful meetings at OMS headquarters. It started with a beautiful service to install our new OMS president, Jeff Edwards. Please pray for him and his wife, Laura as they officially began July 1. Cindy prepared and led devotion and prayer time with the ladies while Doug and the men worked through their agenda of reports. What a sweet time of fellowship we always have together and we were honored to have MFM board representatives from Canada and Scotland.  We're grateful to the men and women who give of their time and resources to serve on the MFM-USA Cabinet.  Jonathan's Italy Trip Jonathan's was completely in awe at the overwhelming support he received for his mission trip to Italy. God orchestrated many opportunities for him to share his testimony, speak in Spanish and use his handyman skills. Thank you to each one that responded through your giving and prayer support. Please pray for direction as he desires to serve overseas in a Spanish speaking country.  1.  Pray as we prepare for upcoming travel to Wisconsin (vacation), Spain, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Albania & Charleston SC.  2.  Cindy is leading a team to Spain to serve in the kitchen and around the grounds at an OMS camp. There's still room on the team if you would like to join her August 20 - September 3. You can serve for 1 week, 10 days or 2 weeks.  3.  Pray for our MFM Cuban leaders and their families as they make some personal and ministry transitions.  4. Pray for the families of MFM. There are many situations in which we need God to do what only He can do.  5. Pray for MFM leadership as we work to reach the next generation. 6. Please pray that we can provide team members for the many short-term team opportunities (listed below).   Vision:  Our goal is the Lordship of Jesus Christ in each person's life, at home and around the world.
