Tankersley Praise & Prayer Update View this email in your browser February 2023 Dear Prayer Warriors But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 Have you ever tried loving someone when they're unloveable? Such as a cantankerous elderly person, a defiant child, a rebellious teenager, a rude employee, a miserable co-worker, a crude cousin, an annoying neighbor and the list goes on. It has to be one of the most difficult things to do.  A typical response for me is to FLEE! Run away from these unloveable people as fast as I can and leave them until they apologize, get it right, turn themselves around and start being someone that makes loving them easy. However, over the years I've come to realize that it's usually when people are the most unloveable is when they need our love the most.  Jesus has a lot to say about love and he gave us so many examples of loving the unloveable: the woman at the well, the unclean lepers, the crooked tax collectors, and the list goes on.  However, it's one thing to read about it, but it's another to experience it. God touches each one of us in our MOST unloveable state, "While we were still sinners". He didn't wait until we cleaned ourselves up, changed our attitudes or waited the for the medicine to kick in. In our most unloveable state, He demonstrated his own love for us and sent Jesus to die for us so that we can have a relationship with him. A relationship where His abundant love knows no end. It never stops! It never gives up! It never walks away! It's our prayer that you've experienced this unconditional act of love and are living in the assurance of His great love for you in ways that attract others. May God give us all the wisdom, compassion and faith to love and serve others well.  Happy Valentine's Day, Doug & Cindy USA MFM Cabinet Meetings - Charleston, SC Flying the day of the software FAA debacle caused many delays for several of the MFM staff heading to Charleston, SC for cabinet meetings. However, that didn't stop us from having great meetings, lots of fun, great food and sweet fellowship. What a wonderful way to kick off a new year seeking God for all that He has for MFM USA! We're especially grateful for the leadership of the USA national director, Bill Evans and the USA cabinet members.  During cabinet meetings, I (Cindy) had the privilege of coordinating the MFM ladies agenda, planning times of devotion, prayer and activities. We intentionally come together twice a year with the great purpose of undergirding the cabinet meetings in prayer. Through that sweet time, special friendships have been made. I'm so thankful for the example and blessing that each one of these women are to me.  Mission Conferences Missions conferences are like homecomings. In March, we have two opportunities to share about what God is doing around the world through OMS and MFM. If you're in the area or willing to travel, we'd love for you to join us: Gibson City Bible Church - March 24-26 Fame Evangelical Church - March 31-April 2 Please pray as we prepare to speak during this special time.  OMS earnestly seeks to MOBILIZE at least 125 new missionaries by our 125th anniversary in the summer of 2026. PRAY with us as the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.  JOIN us in fulfilling the Great Commission. Pray for David & Erin as they will welcome their 3rd son on February 21.                           Pray for Jude (5) & Hudson (3), too!   Pray for Cindy and her sisters as their mom has been put on Hospice due to her rapid decline from dementia.  1. Pray for our MFM Staff meeting on March 14-18 at OMS headquarters in Greenwood, IN. 2. Pray for us as we share at two mission conferences: • Gibson City Bible Church       March 24-26 • Fame Evangelical Church       March 31-April 2 3. Pray for wisdom as we move forward in the newest G5-30 countries of Albania, Puerto Rico, and Dominican Republic, and as we explore additional opportunities in Africa and Asia. 4. Praise the Lord for the 169 individuals that recently made decisions to accept Jesus as their Savior during last week's MFM/Satura evangelism team in Bogotá, Colombia. 5. Pray for the OMS goal of 125 new missionaries by their 125th anniversary (summer 2026). 6. Praise the Lord for His blessings as we celebrate 36 years of marriage on March 21. Vision:  Our goal is the Lordship of Jesus Christ in each person's life, at home and around the world. Merry Christmas 2022

Tankersley Praise & Prayer Update View this email in your browser December 2022 Merry Christmas Prayer Warriors, "Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel." Luke 2:29-32 He's not found in the traditional nativity scene but Simeon's part of history has been on our hearts this advent season. Simeon lived a life of EXPECTANCY. God promised him that he would not die before he had seen the Lord's Christ. Although generations of God's people waited for and expected a Messiah, a Savior, Simeon had been given a promise of assurance.  We have a book full of God's promises, we have fulfilled prophecies, we have Emmanuel: God with us, and living in the hearts of all believers. May this Christmas season spark an assurance of expectancy knowing that the Light of the World will return to restore His kingdom. Like Simeon, may our hearts be filled with praise and peace. May the hope of God's love be the light in your heart this Christmas season.  Thank you so much for your faithful encouragement to us through your prayers and giving this year. May 2023 hold many opportunities to share the Light of the World with those that do not know him.  "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life" John 8:12   Living expectantly, Doug & Cindy Albania Thank you for praying for Doug's trip to Albania in October. God put together a great team from Canada, U.S. and Hungary. We are very thankful for new friends and ministry partners, and for future opportunities to serve together.  While there, we learned about various ministry opportunities in partnership with CRU and we held an overnight work time at the CRU Lighthouse ministry camp with several Albanian men. Many of the Albanian men expressed how wonderful and needed it was to get away to fellowship together.   Please pray for the next steps in how we can help Albanian men to become involved in a MFM-style ministry, as well as the possibility of serving together on future mission trips to Spain, Hungary and Albania.  Canada Cabinet Meetings In November, Doug had the privilege of attending MFM-Canada cabinet meetings near Vancouver, British Columbia. This group is passionate about God's word and raised $30,000 for Bibles in Cuba. We thank God for Marlow Jenkins (pictures on the left) and his 16 years of faithful leadership to MFM-Canada. We have been praying for a new MFM director for Canada and God has graciously provided Kyle & Destinee Martin (pictured center and right). Please pray for them as they raise support and Kyle begins to lead Canada as their MFM National Director. If you would like to bless Kyle and Destinee with a year-end donation or support them monthly, please click their picture above for online donations. Puerto Rico Thank you for praying for Doug and the team while he was on a whirl-wind trip to Puerto Rico.  Thanks to our friendship with Louis, he was able to connect us with 11 churches and ministries, including a theological university and a faith-based organization that provides social welfare services to the island, including disaster relief and recovery.  A few of the guys also provided some needed work at a couple of the churches. Please pray for the Lord's leading as we assess our next steps and for direction as we look to who we may be able to partner with long-term and support with future teams.   They need teams - LOTS OF TEAMS!  Cuba Please pray for the church repairs taking place in Pinar Del Rio.  Their church was heavily damaged when the eye of Hurricane Ian rolled through there on September 27.  Despite having little resources, they have moved forward with the repairs by utilizing local and international teams. As travel to Cuba begins to open up, please pray for direction and discernment in how MFM from North America can help to support ministry needs on the island, and be an encouragement to MFM-Cuba.     New MFM Staff These are familiar faces to many of you. We've known and served alongside these precious folks for many years as Dave served as Associate Pastor at the Gibson City Bible Church and Senior Pastor at Upper Room Bible Church. Now, we are rejoicing that they will be serving with Men For Missions beginning in January 2023. Please pray for them during this time of transition and as they raise their support.
